    1982 worn reeded edge?

OK so I found this worn Circulated 1982 large date, zinc lincoln memorial cent while back and was curious about a couple things because I haven't seen this before and it's been hard to search info about something if you don't know what it's called. First on the obverse side in the motto IGWT, the letters OD WE TRUS seem to be doubled towards the rim, but after reading some articles here I also think it could be die deteroration....however the only thing that confuses me is you can see the center of the D above the D, and the center of the R just above the R. Maybe someone can clear that up for me. The second thing I noticed is the deep gouges between the letters TED ST of United States on the reverse. Is this what is called "die gouges"? And lastly the entire outside edge has marks that look like a worn reeded edge, is this caused from something in the process? I know it is not post mint because believe it or not I have another 1982 large date zinc cent that has the same marks around the entire outside edge. I haven't found another cent with these marks. Any input on this is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, the Lincoln cents do not have reeds on the edge. Those marks might be left over from when the planchet (blank) was punched from the copper strips, and they were not removed when the blank planchet was put through the upsetting mill to add the rim. It very well could be post mint damage, if the coin was circulated. It may have these marks from going through a coin counter or similar device.

As far as the scratches gouges or other marks where the flat die edge meets the rim, it could be die abrasion. Mint workers do maintenance on dies and polish or remove debris from the working dies. Those raised scratched might be in an area may cause them to be there for a longer period of time.

For coins in general, if it takes more than 10x power to see this clearly, then an attributor would consider this to be too minor.

These appear to be very minor in nature and do not bring any premium.

Ah OK, well that's what I was asking because I know the edges are smooth but I didn't know what the marks could be from they are evenly spaced all the way around the coin. I really don't have a good way to zoom in for a picture but I will try.

If you zoom in on the picture that shows the edge you can see the marks resemble that on a quarter but some are worn and can barely see them. I'm certain this is done sometime in the process because I actually have another 1982 large date zinc that has the same exact markings around the edge. I've checked many many 1982's large date zinc cents and so far these are the only two you can see this, all others are smooth. I'm just curious what does this.

Well thank you clearing that up....that makes sense that they're mark from when the planchet was punched. I've seen a couple with the same marks. The eye piece I used to take the pics is 10x.
