1965 Special mint set Nickel DDO i found the listing
Hi, good to see you again! For your viewing pleasure today I offer. One slightly rotated Special mint set nickel. I know they made a lot of trashy nickels around this time. So, what I want to know is. 1. Are all the SMS nickels doubled like this? 2. Is there a "sms" listing that I dont see on varvista? 3. Should I post this in attributions?Tags: None

In my opinion, this is not a bonefide doubled die. It might be a little localized machine doubling (worthless doubling). Varietyvista does not have any listings for DDOs in 1965.
The areas seem to be very minor and one has to proceed with caution with the power of magnification used. Typically, if you need more than 10x power they may ignore it, or simply say it's too minor to list.

Sorry, I didnt mean to waste your time. I found a sold listing on ebay and tracked it down at brian's niclist. I wasn't sure how to delete my posting. Maybe you can help me with that?Last edited by blakfloyd; 01-09-2024, 02:45 AM.

In my opinion, no need to delete a post.
If you wish to do so, edit the post, and there maybe an option to delete it.Last edited by MintErrors; 01-11-2024, 03:05 AM.Gary Kozera

Wow, that's not much extra thickness, but if John (Wexler) called it a doubled die, so be it.
I'm not a extra thickeness collector, nor do I go out of my way to find them. My only claim to fame on the extra thickness ddo was on a roll of 1945 Lincolns that I bought which had about one third to half roll of the thickness ddos.Gary Kozera
