1909 VDB PROOF RIM THICKNESS?
I have compared this Lincoln Cent to the contrasting photos on page 18 of the published book:”LINCOLN CENT MATTE PROOFS” by Kevin Flynn and as noted: “the primary difference is seen with the details in the neck and parts of the beard” and this coin has the defined differences. Also the thickness of this coin is .068.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

In my opinion, I assess the 1909 VDB Matte Proofs using this page :
Proofs are typically struck twice so all the devices are well defined. A well struck business strike can also resemble a matte proof. There were a limited amount of working dies made and used, so die markers are truly the way to identify whether it is or not a matte proof.
Its always a risk, at the owners expense, to send a coin in for authentication and encapsulation. Then the resident experts (at least of them) at that third party grading service can professionally deem what this actually is.
Good luck with whatever path you choose.
