Progressive indirect design transfer
I have a coin I believe has this condition. Such a weird looking coin. Or maybe it’s internal metal displacement phenomenon? I believe just as I believed over 10 years ago. It’s a mint error not damaged. Is this the correct forum to post this in? Looking for information for the new owner of the coin. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

My opinion on this is, it just looks like a worn and damaged coin. My suggestion is this. Visit https://error-ref.com. I suggest finding the contact us link, and see if they will look at this post, and offer their opinion, or simply attach photos to let them see the coin you have questions about.
The area at the base of Lincoln's neck cannot be the wheat stalks coming through. Those are on the outer edge of the coin. The only way they would be near the center of the coin is if the coin was struck off center. In this case, it is a normally struck coin.
The coin has a lot of wear associated with it, and there has been plenty of opportunities over the years for some one to mess with it, and toss it back into circulation.
Here is a link to the error-ref definition, along with a few photos.

In any event, whether this is or is not Progressive indirect design transfer, the value of such a coin, even in Brilliant Uncirculated condition would not fetch a premium, in my opinion.
