CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    i have never seen this

    1979 (as far as i can tell) washington quarter. weighs 5.46 g. looks like wrong planchet and mule but im unsure. anybody?

    Environmental damage it has pitting its either been in the ground for some time or it was dipped in a chemical or acid based. Ketchup can do this too.

      now why would i or anyone think this issue on the coin in MYYY queries here has anything to do with machine doubling? its not doubled. did you even look at it?

        I agree with MintErrors this coin has environmental damage or has been exposed to a caustic substance. Or a dyer coin. And MintErrors said nothing about machine doubling. Just a damaged coin is all it is.
