    Could it be a DDR?

    Hello everybody,
I'd like to ask you that are surely more used than me into such topic and that has a lot more trained eyes, if the following is a DDR.
The coin is a 1 Dinara from 1976 in Yugoslavia.
As you can see in the following image, it looks to me there is a split that is typical of the double dies in the 9 of the date and on the Cyrillic letters on its left:
    1-Dinara-1976-DDR.jpg
Following is same coin without such split, I know on previous image the 6 in the date is cut but believe me it is 1976 and in case I can take a better picture if required. But here is the regular strike one:
    1-Dinara-1976-Regular.jpg
What do you think? Should I got for a mental sanity check-up or may I have got one?

    Cheers,
    Matteo

Agree with Occ, this has all the earmarks, or shall I say Die marks of a Doubled Die event.
By the way Welcome and nice coin.

Thanks guys to confirm it. This is my first ever confirmed DDR so I'm super happy. Will share other stuff in future as I have many doubts on other coins. Meanwhile, Occ, you mentioned this coin come with many DDOs, is there any reference website or catalogue I can try to check for?
Also, since we are in the topic, following is same coin type, but I think this is a machine doubling right?

This is the Machine Doubling that many confuse with actual Doubled Die.

Wow, this is finally a lovely and really easily understandable "guide", really appreciate this, I hope it will help me to improve my skills to recognize proper DD from MD

not that i'm aware of and the few i've seen are not really comprehensive. that doesn't mean there aren't any out there somewhere. i'm sure it is a VERY long list as i've seen dozens upon dozens of different ones.

here is an example of several different ddos i've found. this is one of the weaker ones. the legend letters come with some pretty far spread soemtimes.

Yeah, I see them, very good find, and thanks anyway, I know finding proper references is hard in general, mainly for minor or let say less researched coins

                  Hey guys,
I've found out a friend of the first coin I've proposed you. It is another 1976 Yugoslavia Denar, but this time it might be a DDO.
As you can see from the image, the C and the ȹ seems to be doubled as it seems there is a split in the lines:
                  2023-08-04_12-49-24_Shot.jpg
Also looks to me the F and the other elements on this image are sort of doubled but not just like a machine doubling, mainly the F seems to have a split:
                  2023-08-04_12-49-31_Shot.jpg
Have I hit a DDR and now a DDO on the same coin type and year?

Numista website usually has wel documented cases of doubled dies, overdates and other varieties.

Coin, banknote and exonumia catalogue, online collection management, swaps, forum, and more.

It is best to go to the coin area. Find the country and then search for the year. Within that search you can find the denomination or type coin you are looking for.

Ngc world coin offers another well documented website but can be clunky and hard to use, in my opinion. There are literally hundreds of books available as references, but the 3 world coin book set which I believe has ties back to NGC might be the best.

Coin, banknote and exonumia catalogue, online collection management, swaps, forum, and more.

Numista offers more coin references than my mind can handle.

Coin, banknote and exonumia catalogue, online collection management, swaps, forum, and more.

ya, many foreign coins doubling in circ condition really takes on a MD look but i'd say this is the real-deal after combing over the features.

                        happy hunting.
