CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Is this a die error?

I ran across this 92 Lincoln in a mint set. The first A in America has some kind of issue around the top of the letter and the left side of it. I'm brand new to looking at errors so I'm curious what this is.

In my opinion, if it is raised, it may be a die dent. what is incused or sunk into the die is raised on the coin:

If it is dented into the coin, then it may be what is called a "struck-through". It could have been debris, grease or other material.

The other possibility is that it simply may be a zinc style bubble. Zinc cents have a thin layer of copper and the inside is zinc. some times the combination of these two have issues, especially when the planchets are heated up prior to being struck by the working dies and into coins.
