The D mintmarks is simply filled with debris. Over timeas these working dies make coins, debris such as filings, grease and other things can clog the die, especially mintmarks and designer initials. In my opinion, it's not really worth much.
As for the reverse of the coin, it looks like post mint damage. It hits the rim and the field (flat area of the coin). There is a very slight chance it could be a strike through, meaning something got in the way when the coin was struck but the more I look at it, the more I am convinced it's post mint damage.Last edited by MintErrors; 02-14-2024, 05:12 PM.Gary Kozera

If you feel the attribution is taking too long, go to the members list on this forum. Search for Jamez (yes, with a z). There will be a black chat cloud next to his name. Click on that to send him a private message. He will be able to get you an answer, or maybe poke whomever is working the issue to respond.
One thing people in general do not realize is that many people who help are volunteers. Many still work or wear several hats. Patience is virtue, but if you'd like an answer within a reasonable time frame.Gary Kozera

I appreciate the fact that you need to express your opinion, that’s what forums are for. However, your response is rude and condescending. I have been collecting for about 4 months. I have purchased several books, visited my local certified numismatics coin shop and followed every link provided. I am putting in the work to educate myself. With that being said, the different errors can be confusing and sometimes you just need a more experienced person to confirm or explain an assessment. Your post provided no educational value, only criticism.
I would appreciate it if in the future you do not feel the need to express your opinion on any of my posts. Have a blessed day.
