It's toned. Coins tone or change color for a variety of reasons, such as humidity, extreme changes in temperature and the way the coins are stored. The environmental side can tone them as well, where the coin has been exposed to something like chemicals, staining like some one spilled something on it. Sometimes coins rolled in paper tunes will cause the coins near each end of the roll to have some wild toning.
If you suspect it could be a different metal, then you should weigh it with a scale that goes down to at least one-hundreth of a gram (x.xx). That way the scale won't round up with one decimal place. Scales can be had for less than 20 bucks on places like amazon.Gary Kozera
