CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • A rare Re-frosted Proof 1964 1C with a NEW Doubled Obv

    IMG_7762.jpeg
Liberty-L outward toward the rim, and rotated from the bottom. A doubled eyelid.
What makes this coin even more special is it’s a mis-matched die. The reverse is a worn regular reflective building with heavy prickly wear covering the field and building. The obverse field is newly polished and the design re-frosted.

    Just My 2 Cents,
note sure about reforesting not to familiar with that aspect,
my current study of the 1964 memorial cent, I have not come across it so eager to hear the more knowledgeable opinions.
1964 has many issues and small double dies, the subject seems to have a clockwise push as can be seen in the “4” of date it’s a little dark to see but I’m still working on the “1” in date in my study’s but seems to be a clashed “1”
eye may be left fatigued and hard to tell “to me” pmd or doubling
I do have a lot with doubled Obv right singed of device, which the eye doubling is more pronounced and doubling can be seen between devices nose and lip and chin and neck.
which many are just from loose collar and not actual doubling form the photos kind of hard with my lack of experience and knowledge to tell.
there are many planchette issues and pmd issues with 1964 and I am hoping to learn more about the “re-frosted” opinions, may help in my studies
    Thanks for sharing
And I’m just guessing and asking rather than telling, so please don’t take as that I’m new so just getting my feet wet

I would like to ad pardon me,
As there was few different reverses and varieties, or worked dies where I am working on pairings from worked or just different die all together as there were more than one marriages coining at once. So there are many common errors and pmd that are insignificant “for now”
would definitely love to see photos of the reverse (reverse, reversePF)and or full view Obv/Rev.
as I believe to have seen varieties with PF/PFL rev or obv pairing but for myself, would need full views of good quality, to really weigh in some help,
