CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Black Beauty 1927 1C mint state strike.

A channel on the right of a thin early IN-N would be hub retouching doubling, seeing as the bottom of N on that side shows form doubling. Looks like the US Mint wanted to replace and sharpen the bottom of N by a double hubbing.

I believe the listing you are referring to coneca 02 IV which I would say the “N” at the bottom is pmd as you can see the marks going into the chipped area of the bottom of the “N” I can’t see cc I doubling, That’s Just my 2 Cents, I’m sure I don’t have much into study of 1927 but I will say to check some of the other listings and compare other markers for a match, subject has deterioration so it’s hard for me to tell what’s pmd, determination,,erosion.
”Brown” would be I believe it would fall under in terms of collecting, just thought I would mention, and remember to check what’s rare and what’s common.
There is a nice amount of listings for 1927, not sure what counts of condition, or too common so I don’t want to discourage your plight, Just suggestions and my thoughts to help my learning as well, and remember I may be totally wrong just my 2 cents, I hope I helped your headache, definitely I would love to know the outcome, will help when I get to 1927 wheat cents
