1964-D/D Washington Quarter question..
Ive looked at NGC variety pages and have seen a couple 64-d/d's but not like the one I found in my collection. Pictures attached, can anyone help with what variety this is?You do not have permission to view this gallery.

In my opinion, nothing against NGC - those are the ones that they "recognize".... not necessarily all that may be out there.
http://varietyvista.com might be the place to look. back prior to 19990, they used to hammer in the mint mark into each working die. Each working die would have the mint mark in a slightly different location. This means you can create a overlay, and if they line up exactly, you can find a match. The hardest part is duplicating each photo to the same dimensions and attempting to line up the photos to confirm.

One thing you might want to consider is that this could be machine doubling, since one of the areas is almost flat and shelf like. Machine doubling is one form of worthless doubling. I will take a moment and look at the variety vista website to see if there is
a match, but my gut instinct says its machine doubling/ejection doubling/ worthless doubling.Gary Kozera
