  • 1970D Rosevelt Dime With RDV-002 As Well As Die Clash On "U" in Unum

Good afternoon everyone, I have found this 1970D Dime with known variety of RDV-002, the detailed flames of the torch. However, there is another variety/error that is on this coin as well and I have looked on several websites and have not been able to find anything that looks like this in 1970. On the "U" in Unum it appears to be an "S" overtop of it, but when the light angle is changed, the "S" disappears and the "U" is prominent. As always thanks for taking the time to have a look, and I hope that everyone has a great day! Happy Hunting!

Dutch-Tigger thanks for the reply. I realized that I may have been a little hard to see and thabk you for the reference images, I also.used some similar to check. I cropped the image down to where only the section in question is visible. If you look at the second U in Unum you can clearly see an S. Thank you again for your time and reply. Hope you have a great day.

I've added a couple more photos with arrows showing what I see. When I have the light at 1 angle there is an "S" that appears to be over the 2nd "U" in Unum. When I change the angle of the light the U is normal but a S shows up at the top of the torch.

In my opinion, check out the possible coin counter ring on the reverse. It cuts though the dot to the south east and appears to go most of the way around the coin.

The photos are decent, but for clashes, if they are weak, it takes some work to make them apparent in photos. The only area that looks odd to me is the chin of Roosevelt. It looks like something might be there, but, again, the photo doesn't look too convincing.

If you believe it could be a clash, your best bet may be to check out maddieclashes.com .You should be able to search for the year and mintmark, to see if any clashes were reported for this particular year.
