Just about every software has had its share of issues.
Some more than others. I liked PhpBB.

why don't people still us phpbb? i've always LOVED having as much control over a forum (features/layout etc) and that seems a great solution but takes specialized training of course, esp in todays absolutely insane hacking/scamming/identify theft problems we have.

In my opinion , PhpBB is great. Its still used out there. I think the younger generation want something thats trendier, more appealing and simpler to manage. I pretty much dove in head first on it. I liked that it was open source.

I tried to use Invision for a long time but the SEO was not very good, in my opinion. Plus Invision would charge you for the initial software package and any snap ins I wanted then, pay a "maintenance" fee every six months. Talk about a money pit. For the peeps who like to have a forum, blog and store in one location its ok software. Just too pricey for me over time....I got wise and dumped that for PhpBB.

I know my fair share of info/experiences when it comes to the nefarios side. Doing network security for over 25 years, its amazing to see how much technology has changed along with tactics, cat and mouse, updates and everything else.
