CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Photos for Coneca varieties.

Good evening, I don’t use the forum much but when I do, I’m always astonished with the detailed responses I get from experts, Gary especially. I truly appreciate all of you. My question this time is on the Coneca master list website on the Washington quarters. I don’t see images. For instance my particular Washington 1962D 25C DDO DDR or RPM they have many more variety listings than other sites, which is fantastic. Unfortunately they don’t list the photos or I am missing the link. I apologize if this is user error and a learning curve. Thank you so much for everything you do Happy Thanksgiving.

The CONECA official master list is now at
      Https://conecaonline.info

If I remember correctly, CONECA decided to get back full control from James Wiles several years ago. CONECA staff have been working very hard to getting the master list updated with great photos and pickup points or markers where available.

My only "sore spot" with all this is the dropping of the rarity scale. Now, without some sort reference, some people will be unaware how rare or common a variety is, in my opinion.

The CML is still a work in progress ran by volunteers. I will see what I can find on additional info on the listing, but my guess is that either they don't have a good example to take photos of, or the listing is just not done yet.

If you want more info on the CML, a person who is active on this forum Jamez should be able to answer your questions.

The listings are there, the description gives the area where the doubled die is evident, without photos

Adding photos to these listings can be quite time consuming, especially if the people involved are still working and have a life away from CONECA. I would send Jamez a private message and see if what he has to say about the progress is on this massive project.

I had no idea. That explains a lot, re; the error listings without photos. Coneca is such a necessary and UNIQUE website, regulating spam and
”posers”. In MY opinion, they can bring in a full-time CEO to increase income and hire a small staff or start paying some of the volunteers who spend hours trying to complete what seems like a project that can go on forever. I for one would not mind paying a small monthly or annual fee. Again, this is just my opinion and I realize that it sounds easy, but it isn’t.

The CONECA orginaztion is a not for profit organization. The exact type can be found here:

I know they can accept memberships and donations. I also know they allow lifetime memberships, but the lifetime membership is pricey, and may have minimum age requirements.
