CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

  • Something is odd between the L and I in Liberty

    Hello everyone, I was looking at a new coin that I received which is an 1883 cc Morgan silver dollar an in the word liberty in her crown between the L and I I spotted this odd mark, Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

    In my opinion, whatever it is, it's pretty small / minor.

    Or, It could be a very minor lamination, very minor strike through or something else.

    The mint goes off tolerances, even in quality control back then. It's difficult o know if it was on the planchet before the strike or, part of the die. The rings were noted on newer style coins, but since it's difficult to know their origin, it's difficult to give a solution.
