What year is the quarter?
Have you researched whether that coin has any documented known varieties on varietyvista or https://conecaonline.info ?

There are no documented DDRs for this year for the quarter.
Your photos dont show any split serifs/ notching. No extra thickness.
In my opinion, its strike related damage, probably from a highly worn die.
Working dies for quarters could strike more than 325,000 coins before retiring the working die from service.
This was before the single squeeze era of the mid 1990s to present, so the true doubled dies back then normally would show more in the way of doubling. But, with no documented DDRs, it is more than likely something else.
Typically, its not the phone but they way people take the photos. Most cameras will do a decent job. Its about stability, lighting, patience and a bit of luck some times. The photos are decent, it just lacks a bit of depth.Last edited by MintErrors; 04-24-2025, 02:33 AM.
