  • 1942/1941 Winged Lib Head Dime - Authentic?

    Hi All,

This coin is posted on another forum. I think it is a fabrication of some kind. My reasons:

The 2 appears to be behind the 1 on this coin.

On a genuine coin, the The 2 appears to be in front of the 1

Also, the notching that should be visible on the 4 does not exist on this coin.

This looks like a doctored 1941.

    Opinions Please?
    Thanks,
    Bill

The two is out of position for this date and variety and as you said Bill, the 2 is over the 1. There should also be doubling on the 4 digit as well, which in this case seems to be missing.

      Hi,

Thanks "wavysteps", You may have seen this coin already. You have me convinced that the coin has a fair amount of bogocity involved:-)

(Bogocity...my word for measurable amounts of something being BOGUS:-)

      Have Fun,
      Bill

It looks bad to me as well. The 4 should be doubled.
