Should I be concerned about this 1916 d Buffalo?
Hi everyone, this coin is a recent purchase, it's a 1916d Buffalo nickel. The coin has a weaker strike, looks MS. But the rim has this darker Center sandwich between two shinier edges. And when I look at it with the microscope, the rim has these lines that resemble breeds of the coin except they are very subtle. Could this coin be counterfeit? The reason I purchased it is because it looked like a discovery coin. What would be the first 1916 d two feather variation.

In my opinion, the edge is concerning. The weight is within tolerance. I cannot give much more in opinion, since I cannot see the obverse and reverse of the coin. We would need to see the coin to see if its an error or fake/counterfeit.
What I would do is put a post in
CONECA SERVICES under Examinations forum. A CONECA staff member will evetually look the photos and text over. Add as many photos and text as you can, especially of the complete obverse and reverse. It will cut down on number of posts needed to get an answer. It might cost a nominal fee, but at least you will have an expert answer.
I have 3 helpful posts in my signature block for photo taking and general CONECA forum info.

Hi Mint Errors, I thank you so much for your reply! I have indeed the minute the whole coin for examination. The reason I purchase the point is because it looks like it was a discovery of a 1916D two feather variation. This variation exists for the plain 1916 and for other years but not the 16D. The strike looks weaker all over the coin. I haven't heard back from anyone yet in my examination post. It's been 6 days. I am new here, so I'm not sure how long it usually takes to get a response. Here I have attached a couple of photos below hopefully they can help. Thank you again for taking the time to answer.Attached Files

Look for the little black voice cloud. Click on that and it should allow you to send him a private message.
Another way is to go all the way to the top right of this post, at the top right corner is a link for messages. You can send him a message in there, if thats easier.
