    Question: loss before plating. Lamination.

The only information I could find on the was Google AI said it was possible.
I have a 1982D small date zinc. The largest plating blisters on the obv and rev you've ever seen. It was 1982D small date zinc roll removed, and in another state right now.
On the reverse though on the upper middle Lincoln Memorial pillar it should be a standing image, but instead there is a large inward chunk just missing with a smooth round floor.

I thought it spoke well of some wrongly mixed planchet ingredients by the obnoxious bubbles, and the possibility of the missing chunk being from the same issue.
Not perfectly round, but the majority, next to striated ledging.
