1883 "no cents" Liberty Nickel RPD

    Hi,

I have an 1883 'no cents' Liberty Nickel with doubling on the 1 the 8 top left and lower inside curve of the 3. It most closely resembles WRPD-005 from Wexler's Doubleddie.com, but the die markers are not exactly matching the die markers in the photos for WRPD-005. The lack of a match between the die cracks on my coin and the die markers listed Wexler's leads me to believe I have a WRPD-002 or a new variety which would be a miracle considering the age of this coin. The doubling on the date on mine matches both attributions as only the 1 is doubled on WRPD-002 and there are no die markers listed for that one. The pictures below are in comparison to the ones listed for the WRPD-005 attribution. Can you please compare my photos below to the following link from doubleddie.com and let me know your thoughts? Thanks

Die varieties such as doubled dies, Repunched mint marks (RPMs), Over Mint Marks (OMMs), Repunched Dates, Overdates, coin design varieties, as well as regular coins and error coins.

Several other places you may be able to find information
    VarietyVista.com
    Ngccoin.com under the VarietyPlus area

The Complete Guide to Shield & Liberty Head Nickels is book for this coin series. It was authored two women, Gloria Peters and Cynthia Mohon and was published in 1995. It also may have more information.

In my opinion, the die cracks might have played a role in what you are seeing. The markers themselves are not always present on a coin documented by an attributor. A coin could be of an earlier die state or, was minted in between documented die states.

If you dont get many opinions here you can leave a post under ATTRIBUTIONS under the CONECA SERVICES on this website.
