If you would, please check out the pictures of the ear on this 2002 Roosevelt Dime. Would this be machine doubling also? It doesn't seem to have the flat shifted look I've come to realize as a distinctive mark of machine doubling. It also doesn't protrude all along the base of the ear just a portion. Your thoughts?

Since the anomaly is fairly close to the center, where most single squeeze hubbing doubled dies do occur, it may be a doubkled die. I just can not be to sure from the pictures.
I would suggest getting a hold of Dr. Wiles on this one and see what he thinks.
