CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    94D cent left planter question

    Found this 2004 D Cent with what looks like a hole in the left planter, see pictures. Have you seen it before? How would it be classified?

    Doesn't appear to be struck through anything, so I would think it was PMD. As far as it being a die anomaly, I cannot see how that part of the die being deeply incuse could somehow end up with a raised round protrusion.

      There may have been a piece of debris caught in the recess that indented the planchet during the strike, or a struck through a foreign object. I can also be post mint damage. It is hard to tell from the pictures.
