CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

  • Question regarding 1972 S Proof Set

I have a 1972 S Proof Set that I believe contains multiple error coins (DDO & DDR's). My question is what is the best way to have the individual coins verified and graded. Never broke open a proof set before.
    Any advice would be appreciated

In all likelihood your coins are machine damage and NOT true doubled dies. If you can take a photo and post it here we might be able to clear it up for you. The 72-S proof sets come in a hard plastic case with a seem on the edge. I use a heavy knife and apply pressure along the seem. They usually will pop open on one end and then you can pry apart the two pieces.
