Question on 2008 ALASKA state Qtr doubled leg/arm

    Hi again,
Is this true? Does anybody have a photo? What's the DD image orgin?

I have a coin but unsure if true, and I don't have a reference.
Is the DD rare or very common due to the design?

    Thanks, NVTE

After an absence from this forum, I have returned to find that things have not much changed; the same questions are being asked without much thought from certain people.

As to your question; what are you referring to, the Kodiak bear? Where did your information come from concerning this doubling? Is it a reliable source?

I do have the means of tracking down new variety findings and I do relish the idea of making these known to the numismatic public; however, the story from my uncle's half-sister, who's nephew thought he saw a doubling on a certain coin in his aunt's niece's piggy bank just does not cut it. The information must be more specific as to what, when and where.

Yes, I am back and I will be answering questions on variety coins. You may not like the answers, but they will be the truth.

Perhaps Novicetoerr is referring to the die chips that frequently form in the gaps between the bear's claws.

Mike - I am happy to be back. As to novicetoerr, I am not to sure what they are referring to. Yes, there have been die chips in the bear's claws, but that would not account for the doubling in arms and legs???
