CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1921-P Morgan with Odd Denticle Polish Lines and more...

Happy Holidays all....I'm curious if the Morgan crowd in the forum have ever seen a coin with extensive die polish lines..a re-worked die for sure...
has the usual 1921-P lines in usual, and, unusual places..the most unusual? Denticles...BETWEEN the denticles, which, by the way, at 5:30 begin what appears to be MDD..then, into shapes I do not understand, then, beveling, then, at 11:00pm, ends....this is a D2 reverse coin, with 16 berries, so, the zerbe factor is out, unless I just found the first obverse zerbe with a D2 reverse..highly unlikely.....the die marker on obverse, the line through the U, in the 2nd U in UNUM, is on the first U(2nd pic)...dramatically....the U where the zerbe marker is has issues too(3rd pic--I love the tiny "beads" dropping down from between the denticles)..4th...this coin has to be seen with an open mind, after all, after 90 years, a first WIDE REED 1921-D has been found with a First D2 reverse....so, things do popup.....that's why we, I mean, I, love the hunt.... pic is "scribbly scratchy lines, which I thought was Vam 3BB.....but, NOBODY seems to mention the denticle issues I have)....the so-called mysterious "marker dot" continues the controversy.......I feel the dots ARE markers, and, this spot is THE #1 spot on a coin.....pic#5...there is a zerbe coin from a heritage auction that shows THE SAME DOT, moved right under the neckline....scary........apparently, after the 200 zerbes were made, thousands of circulated strikes were made........rumor? The obverse has polishing lines in virtually every crevice, except in, and around LIBERTY...

    Anacs has it

I sent the coin off to Anacs ...my hope it is a sister coin to the 1921-P VAM 44, which has 17 berries....they say there is this 16 berry D2 reverse out there...don't know who "They" are, and, where the pics of the coin are....maybe LeRoy Van Allen has them....
