CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Major single trail or die crack?

This coin is just a question mark to me ? I seem not to know what a trail is so I have to ask every step of the way.

Since it doesn't meet the rim, it's most likely a die gouge or a thin die dent.

It is not a trail die. Trails are normally a series of parallel lines that begin at a design element and fade as they move away from the design.

        1988 Penny with a line.

I would like to know what caused this error..It has a line from the bottom to the top . This is not a scratch but a raised copper line. Looks cool and visible with the naked eye.

        Thanks for any information...
Would it be considered a error coin?

I'm not sure, it seems a little too straight to be a die crack. The ones I've seen are all a bit erratic, nothing ruler straight like that one seems. I'd almost think some kind of die gouge, hopefully someone who's seen something like that before can weigh in.

It could be a die gouge, die dent, or an unusually straight plating blister.

You can try selling it on ebay, I heard there are people looking to buy anything!!! Just a thought. I'd say it has no added value..
