  • 1966 Roosevelt dime

Does anyone have an idea how this could have happened, I found a 1966 Roosevelt dime this afternoon that was missing the nickel plateing. The copper is off color, the diameter is the same as an ordinary dime, the weight is2.24 grams.??

The weight you cite is falls within the expected range of variation for dimes. Your dime is either discolored or was struck on an improperly annealed planchet. The latter can turn a planchet a copper color as copper atoms migrate to the surface.

I have a similar dime, see pic. Both sides are the same color. Has the coin been altered?
