CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

Repunched Date due to misalignment???

    Repunched Date due to misalignment???

    Hi ALL,

    Is there a known error like this? I have one that looks like one (my observation, not an expert's).

    There are a lot of repunched dates, up until 1908. At that point in time, the mint began adding the date to the master die by engraving. If your coin is post 1908, it does not have a repunched date. UNLESS it is from a foreign country.

      I have attached the date of a 1973-D Lincoln Cent with what seems to be misaligned redundancy under it. What could be its cause?

          You're right, BJ!!!
          Just saw the clearer pictures this morning with the obvious gunk behind.
          Either my vision is getting poorer or camera/display settings were bad.
