CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Found coin, thoughts?

    What you have is a form of vandalism commonly referred to as a "squeeze job", "hammer job", "vise job", or "sandwich job". A nickel was squeezed or hammered into the reverse face of your cent while the obverse rested on a hard, flat surface.

          Lol! I keep hearing about them, just never see any others online. I will have to do another Google search and see if I can find some more to look at.

          I assumed that at lease one side would have to be heated to create a "stamp" on another coin.

          But "When you assume...." ROFL

            Heating the coin would make little difference in the way that it would except a transfer of design elements from coin to coin. Nickel has a melt point of 2651 F and copper 1984 F, so the coins would have to become pretty hot to start making the surface begin to melt.
