CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Just wondering

    Here are two coins that have different issues. The first is a 1994 quarter with some rim variation. I'm interest in what designation goes with it. I think it has something to do with an offset die strike and is quite common, I just want to know the reference name or technical name for the variation.

    The second coin shows a semi-circular pair of divits that I see from time to time. The same divits show up as a parallel pair or sometimes triplets. I was wondering what causes this pattern?

    The 1994 quarter appears to show collar clash, along with a slight horizontal misalignment and perhaps finning of the rim. The second quarter is simply damaged.
