  • MAD Die Clash 1983

Here is a 1983 Lincoln penny I found today. It is a very nice die clash example with a clear obverse and reverse clash.

That is a strong die clash that boarders on being atypical. However, 1983 seems to be a banner year for die clashes in the Lincoln cent series, even with the five degree tilt in the die clash as shown on your coin.

Still, it is a nice find.

        More Detailed

The photos don't do it justice. The penny is about 25% more detailed in person. It only took me about 1/4 second to realize what it was.

It was the second penny I found today with a rotation. The other one is a 1995 with 15 degree rotation and a shadow 5 in the date.

That one I would definitely like to see if possible for inclusion into the MADdieclashes.com site.

            That sounds good to me

That sounds good to me. I looked at the two 1983 die clashes you have listed on the MAD clash site. I think this one would be a great addition.

I will go there and refresh my memory on the submission protocol.

Anything come of these two ('83 and '95) clashes?
