  • New Hampshire State Proof Quarter Survey Question.

As you all are aware, the New Hampshire state quarter has a mountain side with the words “Old Man of the Mountain” on it. The words have a polished surface. Now the question, do the crevasses between the stones which make up the mountain have a polished surfaces or unpolished surfaces.

I ask because I have two proof sets, one with and one without the polished surface. Is this a type A type B thing? What’s the amount of polished ones compared to unpolished.

I would not have noticed, and hadn’t noticed until I read the article about the motto being polished on some coin. So when I saw the difference between the two I decided to ask the group.

I’m thinking they are normally unpolished and the polished ones are rare and hard to find. Of course I’ve found one. Lucky me.
    Take care,

Check your proof sets and let me know.
