Sad day indeed. Was shocked when I heard the news. I just finished reading one of his stories about the war.. what a great read.
You have an extra 10 minutes and want to take a trip back in time..

Hi All,
I just got back online after a month involving a move from WA to FL. I was saddened to see this. I've known Alan since 1969 as a colleague in the error and variety field. I was just a kid then writing questions to him based upon what I read in COINS magazine. He always responded with a great deal of information and encouragement.
Letters continued for years until the RCC newsgroup developed. Then as the answerman, Alan and I exchanged information, thoughts and concepts pertaining to this great hobby.
More recently, and sadly too far between, Alan and I would share occasional emails.
He will be missed.
