  • Crazy Jefferson?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what happened to this 1977-P Jefferson Nickel. I do not think this happened at the mint. To me, it looks like a super-matte finish. I just want to know what would cause this. Both sides are like this, as is the rim. If it was a chemical, any ideas what kind. It looks like it was sand blasted with a mini sand blaster, with extremely fine sand. It also feels kind of slippery or smooth, but not smooth. I know that makes no sense, but that is kind of how it feels. Thanks.

Thanks Mr. Davis. I knew it was PMD, just didn't know what. That sounds very likely.

It may have been sand blasted.
