1902-O Barber Dime.....acid damage?
I've never come across an acid damaged (bathed?) coin and my suspicion is that is what is going on with this dime. It is very light, only weighs 1.85 g (should be 2.50 g). All of the device details have deep valleys alongside the edge of the device and especially obvious around the digits and mintmark. Quite uniform on both sides with an etched feel to the surface. Rim is still very reeded so I am thinking that it was acid bathed in its early life which would be surprising (I could see later on if it had some surface issues that were being dealt with..??).......it's a funny and just looking for the always welcome opinions. Many thanks,Bob
