CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1988 lincon cent need info

    Ran across this searching thru saved coin its a 1988 cent has what appears to be severe doubling i took it to a local coin shop and they had never seen one like it this appears above the lettering and is the length of each letter found this on a 1991 cent as well but only over 1 s and 1 t in states

    Your coin shows what is called Split Plating Doubling. On copper-plated zinc cents when struck the tensile stress causes the copper plating to rupture, exposing the underlying zinc. This is common on copper-plated zinc cents and does not add any value to the coin.

        I agree with JC, standard split plate doubling. Very common. Make a note of it.
