CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1943/2 D ??? Speculation

    1943/2 D ??? Speculation

    I always look for the same varieties on the Denver mint as on the Philadelphia. Possible doubled die reverse with mechanical doubling but that’s not why I’m posting. You’ll have to look at the date!

    In my opinion, this is a normal 1943 nickel with some MD on the reverse as you pointed out. The line on the 3 that you may be focusing on has an additional one parallel to it and seems more consistent with die scratches rather than 3/2. Are you able to find any evidence on more of the design elements on the obverse to support 3/2?

        They do not, and nothing in my response suggested your coin should look exactly the same as the Philadelphia one. My response is my opinion about what I can see in the images posted. More supporting evidence on other design elements would make me reconsider my opinion which is why I asked.
