CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

This dollar looks to be covered in craters on both obverse and reverse. I don't know what to make of it. Is this post mint damage or is this some kind of mint error? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

The pitting on the reverse was probably an an attempt to clean it. On the reverse behind the eagle are abnormal streaks which don't appear to be raised. The color is off and it has less of a polished shiny luster than normal.

if it were a Sacagawea, and didn't have the pits and abnormal scratches, it could have been an experimental rinse candidate. But this seems to have been harshly cleaned by something and wiped off after the chemical dried.

Yes, I was thinking it was from someone trying to clean the coin. Thanks for the feedback.
