CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Acid restored dates on Buffalo nickels

If everything else on the coin besides the date points to the coin being a significant find. The acid restoration of the date is done well.
of course they may not be valued as high as coins found in the CoinBook without restoration. Shouldn’t it retain some value from its rarity?
Now I’m not talking about complete restoration maybe just the date and mint mark?

I hesitate a lot about this. It's almost a movement just to justify one type of specific denomination. Why is this one above all others ? I personally believe that using any chemicals to restore anything is probably not the best answer. It may open up the floodgates in order to to Mercury dimes, and a following trying to promote the documentation of 1916D dimes,. People are willing to pay good money for a dime in AG3, so, is it better or worse to assist some coin denomination for the reconstruction of well used coins ? I don't typically follow Buffalo Nickels, but many do. Then, you have the caveats that third party grading services will tag with this.... condition. Is it actually worth the effort, an worth the satisfaction to the end collector ?
