1974 D Washington Quarter possible extra wing or leaf>?
Hi I came across this quarter and in hopes someone can explain what it is going on with my quarter if its a planchet flaw or maybe extra leaf/wing>? I've been looking around for something like I have but have not had any luck and there doesn't seem to be any other 1974 D errors (that I could find) Thanks for your help much appreciated. The area directly North of that may be related, but it is cut off and I cannot determine if if truly is.
My gut instinct is to call it a die break.
The first photo, it looks like part of the wing was broken in a horizontal fashion.
Second photo looks like a die break
Third photo is too blurry to deep dive on, BUT.... I do see some other thing at the end of the eagles' perch to the left. Its either a die clash or a die break.Last edited by MintErrors; 09-13-2022, 01:29 PM.Gary Kozera

So how can a person tell if it's a die crack vs extra leaf? or die crack vs die clash? and when you say the wing Was broken is that considered just damage then? I do know what some die cracks look like as I have a few coins that are very obvious but on this one I wasn't sure and do trust your opinion I'm just trying to understand how you come up with that opinion and what your looking at to decide that so I too can learn. I really do have lots of coin books I even have the Mega red but sometimes that just don't give me personally enough info for me to fully understand. Thank you again for your time. Kim
