CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2021P Shield Cent….anybody have any suggestion?

I’ve only been through 5 rolls of my 18, 2021P Shield Cents, and I’ve already come across what can only be described as a built up retained crack which repeatedly strikes the coin as it was raised on the die.

I should clarify, this isn’t the image transfer crack that can obtain the opposite polarity, but an actual crack on the final single working die, which developed after the image transfer. This one would be striking the planchet and leaving an incuse imagery.

About 60 subjects and still have 12 out of 18 rolls left.

Thanks for posting this! My first guess would be that it is a struck through area, where the object creating the strike through shifted and moved, and likely disintegrated over time throughout multiple strikes.

i agree with the above. there are several good examples on 2019 coinage forward, especially the bat quarters and some others with bid obverse progressive/regressive strike-throughs bringing nice premiums. if this is anything other than strike-through, i think it is outside my experience.
