  • $2.50 1908 Indian Head Die Clash

Curious as to why errors or varieties don't exist to cherry pick from the $2.50 Indian Head series? An example might be the strong obverse die clash from 1908 below. Areas of interest are in nearly all areas of the neck.

Does coinage above a certain denomination not generate enough interest in the uniqueness of errors or varieties to draw additional value?

there are a good amount of variety and errors for higher denominations of silver, gold, platinum etc. they generally tend to not be common but there are plenty out there and these days, probably a good premium assigned to them.

there probably has been better QC when it comes to gold and also a lot less than silver coins, by a lot, so from a percentage standpoint, the lesser quantity and perhaps more attention, probably is what has caused a lot less of them to exist/be known.

that said, there are some WILD gold errors out there.
