CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

….but if worn, why the fine channels?

after looking for a while, i'm leaning towards pmd but only to say 85%. it does kinda look like there is something legit going on but for me, it would take an in-hand study. if no washington experts chime in, you may want to post this on the pcgs or ngc forum. i know both have experts in all areas of usa coinage that are at least fairly active.

This (red arrow) image is as high as everything else. Just under the right end of the arrow quills.

On the incuse regular space on the 1982D above, it looks like a mouth biting the bottom corner of the right side of the arrows quills. In the raised version in the 1983P it looks like that also.

hmmm. my brain is struggling with the images. happens every so often when looking at things head-on/close-up.

can you take some shots at different angles of that area and/or any others that appear to have unsual raised areas?
