1966 no mint penny

I have come across a 1966 mint penny that ways 2.5 gr is this supposed to be that weight?

Question. How accurate is the scale? How many digits does it go to ? I mean, does it read down to the hundredths of a gram (x.xx)?

Google knows all you can simply ask google whatbis the weight of a copper cent ? It should answer 3.11 grams.

Know that photos here help immensely. Coins could have been in the ground, become environmentally damaged can have metal eaten away affecting its weight. Additionally, if the coin was exposed to some sort of acidic treatment, chemicals, acid, ketchup or tomato based mix, it too will make the coin lighter.

find another copper cent. Place each coin side by side and use a finger to see if one is higher that the other. Then, stack them on top of each other to see if they are the same size diameter. As they are stacked on top of each other, pick them up and look at the rims and note if they are pretty close to the same thickness.

Withput photos it's difficult to assess if it is a underweight planchet, wrong planchet struck on fragment or other issue.

What do you mean no mint penny ? If no mint mark, the coin is typically made in Philadelphia.
