1985 Die Clash common?
I recently found a 1985 penny with something going on behind the columns of the Lincoln Monument. While researching and trying to figure out what it is I came across an almost identical example. They said it was a die clash. I was able to overlay the pictures to match up and I'm sure that is what I have. I haven't been able to see anything on the obverse. My question is, since I found at least 1 other example,( honestly I stopped looking after I figured out what it is) is this a common error for the 1985 penny? Thank you for any information!Tags: None

i would lean towards not rare but it would take a specialist to know clashing by year/mm and even then it would be tough simply due to how many dies and die pairings there are for any given year/mm. also, then there are polishing, other clashing events so it can get a little messy. you can find one side clashed w/o clashing on the other side for various reasons, one of them being switching out of dies. that one really threw me off when i first started learning of the clashes years ago.
that said, your coin is for sure a clasher and a nice overlay there.

To see if you can match it up.... if they have a documented example. If not, you might be able to get them to list it for you, and they may give you credit for the coin and photos.Gary Kozera
