fwiw. i've seen hundreds of cents/nickels/dimes/quarters/halves sent off and the single most important thing i have learned. can't grade cam vs dcam from pics. (or non cam to cam by extension) i've seen so many i woulda bet the farm on being dcam only to see SO many fall short. mostly other people's results. from people that know their stuff too.
my best advice. if you have desire to get into the cam/dcam game, buy a couple inexpensive examples of the denoms you want to try to get cam/dcam on so you have some baseline to go on. preferably in new-ish holders so you can see how current grading standards are being handled. also depends on which TPG you want to submit to.
besides depth of field, frosty-devices-to field-contrast will be one of the top factors. i'm sure non scuffy/hazy surfaces help in this regard.
when a coin falls short of the designation, no problems withstanding (spots/haze/scuff marks-lines/dark toning etc), usually it pushes the lesser designation grade higher. ie. i sent a 56 t1 50c with nice frost obv/rev hoping for a cam but not expecting it. it did miss cam but hit ms68.
probably more than you wanted to know but gives you an idea of what you are asking about.coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com
