CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Did all the die markers match up as well, and what stage of wear was the Die when it struck your coin ?

          It's an LDB4, not a 3 LDB4 – 1957D : Cuds on Coins (cuds-on-coins.com)

That is why I personally pick one forum and selectively offer my opinion to some. I personally do not believe I can help every single person so i tend to offer a signature that points them in a direction that offers commonly asked questions.

People say I say the same thing over and over at times. That because those people either don't get the process, or other people simply bring coins that are not errors or varieties. Some simply slap a coin in a photo and ask "what is this" with no other effort what so ever, even if they have been given references and asked to help a little. Over time, they get added to my ignore list and I try to concentrate on the ones willing to learn, and the new ones who are just starting.

In my opinion, there are too many new people all over this hobby hyped up roll searching when the US Mint has basically not given up many major errors nor any major doubled dies or re-punched mint marks in a long time. Sure people can pursue any hobby they wish, but people would be more successful at searching BU copper Lincoln cent rolls, or finding some European countries to go through and find a higher return on their investment.....time.

All it boils down to is enjoyment. If you are truly doing it for the enjoyment, then it is worth it. Other than enjoyment, it quickly can sour to a burden if one is not careful. I personally visit this single forum in hopes to find a good number of posters that know the difference between an error or variety and a damaged coin. Its not happened yet. I do have other plans in the upcoming months and I cannot promise that i will frequent this forum much.

I appreciate that, yes the amount of OP’s popping a pic up with scant info is high. I do tend to run the clock on one forum, but if its quiet I will Roam CCF . I have collected for such a long part of my life and to give back has been a new part of the hobby for me as well as sharing my collection with groups. This weekend will be a good opportunity for me to work some good photos of interesting coins and will post them. I sure appreciate your knowledge and have gone to the links you have at the footer of your posts. Thank you for reaching out, Work has been the devil lately and has kept me from here as much as I want to be. Best Regards. Randy
