CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1825 half cent

    Hi, hoping you guys could gimme some insight on this 1825 1/2 cent. Send in for grading? Rb or rd cleaned? Hard to tell on the reverse on camera but its a purple/blue tone

    cleaned, corroded, recolored. lots of bad stuff going on. a basic search on ebay, heritage etc will get you in the ballpark for value. sending it off by itself, depending where you send it will be in the $50-150 range.

    i don't think it is counterfeit since it seems to match the top image on pcgs coinfacts. corresponding weakness areas, some gouges etc. but also a weight on it wouldn't hurt. doing die marriage doesn't guarantee authenticity these days and not for a long time. just covering the basis.

    if authentic, it has some ok value but i don't see it meriting sending off for grading. lots of raw classic coin buyers out there.
