No mint marks appeared on circulating coins from 1965 to 1967. The Coinage Act of 1965 eliminated mint marks to discourage collecting while the Mint worked to meet the country's coinage needs. Mint marks were placed on the reverse of coins until 1968 when they moved to the obverseOriginally posted by Keith Chambers View PostI would like to know does a 1965 Quarter suppose to have a mint mark or it’s just from Philadelphia?

just my opinion and two cents... this question could have easily been answered by a search engine search, like google...

Gary, If me posting in a general format asking a question gets under your skin because it seem like it did, because you made a reply that was unnecessary you don’t have to read it, I know about search engines, I saw a post a woman had made stating that she had sold a 1965 no mint mark quarter for $20,000, I had a general idea that no mint mark was Philadelphia but I wanted to ask members of this group because maybe they knew something I didn’t.

No, you did not get under my skin. All I was pointing out was that some questions can easily be answered by a simple question to a search engine. In some cases, they even show a reputable reference that you can bookmark.

The lady might have typed the year wrong, the 1964 Special mint sets were made, and are quite rare:

I have 95% of the notifications turned off here. It's not that I don't reply if asked a question, I have to revisit the post or simply move on to another.
